So when you have have walked around all the amazing sites you can for now and need to find a watering hole, where do you go for a drink in Edinburgh? These are some of our favourites for when you only have a weekend in Edinburgh
With over 350 bottled and canned variaties of beer, Salt Horse, situated between the Royal Mile and Cowgate gives you plenty of options. If you cant make up your mind there is also a shop selling all those beer options so you can take them home. Also in case beer is not your thing there are wines by the glass and a selection of spirits available.
If you want to visit a pub with some history behind it but also serving a great selection of beer then The Guildford Arms is for you. When the pub has been in the same family for over a hundred years they should know what they are doing! You can find the Guildford Arms just of Princes Street in the New Town area of Edinburgh.
Despite being known more for Whisky and Craft Beer there is a thriving cocktail scene in Edinburgh. Topping the list of cocktail bars is Bramble, on Queen Street in New Town. A discreetly hidden basement bar down below a tailors shop. White walls, low ceilings and an unpretenteous atmosphere make it a great pre-club drink or just a nice night out.
Another hard to find basement bar, this time deliberately. Hidden behind the facade of a vintage barber shop a little futher down Queen street is Panda & Sons. Serving up all the classics as well as their own award winning concoctions.
There are plenty of artisan coffee shops to get a drink in Edinburgh and avoid the chains. But then again Artisan Roast is creating its own mini chain with 3 shops in Edinburgh and is a must for the coffee connoisseur.
Back accross in Old Town, on Cockburn Street you can find the Milkman. Perhaps not the most inviting place from the outside but hides a modern interior and is a great place to pick up a morning coffee as you make your way up to the Royal Mile.
